Crystal Care Solutions Donates to the Macari Foundation: Helping the Homeless and those in Need

January has been a long cold month for everyone, however the month can be the hardest for the homeless people in society who struggle with the temperature drop at this time of year. According to Shelter (2017) an estimated 300,000 people are homeless across the UK at the moment and the problem is growing. That is why at Crystal Care Solutions we wanted to do something to help. All our staff were given a Christmas Hamper in December to say thank you for all their hard work and commitment throughout 2018. In January we still had 13 left over, we did some research and stumbled upon the ‘Macari foundation’ and decided we would love to make a small donation.

Help Those Who are Homeless

The ‘Macari foundation’ is a charity set up by ex-Stoke City Football Club manager ‘Lou Macari’ in Stoke-on-Trent. It aims to help those who are homeless or at risk of being homeless. During his time with Stoke-City Football Club Lou noticed the homeless situation within the Stoke-on-Trent area and decided he wanted to do something about it. Not only has he set up the ‘Macari Foundation’ helping countless people who have fell upon hard times but he also personally patrols the local areas at night looking to help those in need and further has organised an event known as ‘The Big Sleep Out’ with ‘Neil Nello Baldwin’ to raise funds and awareness for the issue. The centre also recently opened its first girl’s dormitory.

Winter Really is the Worst

We went down and met Lou and saw all those at the foundation who do great work helping those in need. Lou showed us around, introduced us to some of the residents and showed us some of the great work they are doing, helping those who have nowhere else to go. Lou told us “Winter really is the worst, its freezing outside and we are now operating at capacity.” The residents we met told us how they really appreciated what Lou was doing, what was most apparent is how hands on Lou was, when we arrived he was helping prepare food in the kitchen.
